Perfectionism – The TRAP

What most people do when something doesn’t go perfectly only messes them up.

They decide to get upset about the fact that it didn’t go the way they wanted.

Case in point: yesterday I stopped by a store for a soda (which I don’t usually drink but it was hot and I didn’t really care at the moment).

One guy was working and the lady in front of me needed balloons. He let the balloon go, it went to the ceiling, the line grew, there were tons of complaints, etc.

Lady: “I’m so sorry.” repeatedly.

Me (finally): *waves hand away* “It’s perfectly fine. Nothing to be sorry for! There’s so much going on here in the world that we could be worried about instead. This is nothing. In fact, if we got upset about every little thing in the world right now? We’d be dead from heart attacks. Not to mention the heat.”

Lady: *laughs aloud* (we continue talking after this)

Me: “There is only one guy here trying his best. It’s hard to staff people these days. I’m happy we just got someone in here trying.”

Everyone else: *silence*

Cashier: “Let me go ahead and get you first.”

I leave and wish her the best at the party I learned she got the balloons for.

My day went well. Everyone else? Hopefully woke up and realized life isn’t supposed to go perfectly.

Be grateful for what you have.

Only then, life gets better.

What are you grateful for today? Love to hear about it below!
