Drinking Water – Tips

Water Can Taste Better!

It’s sometimes really hard to drink things with flavor all the time and then suddenly be told that the blandest drink in existence is required to be healthy.

Did you know that (according to civicscience.com) “The latest CivicScience polling shows that close to half (47%) of U.S. adults consume far below the recommended amount at less than three 16-oz. glasses of water per day, while nearly 40% drink between four to seven glassesand just 13% drink more than eight glasses”?

What does that mean? You are not alone. A long time ago, I got up one morning and was sure I left some juice in my bedside cup. I took a sip and it was disgusting!! I gagged and wondered what I swallowed.

Affer looking in the cup, I discovered it was water. Then I took another sip – skeptically – and tasted water this time. What happened?

I expected taste, so when I didn’t get it my mind turned it into something nasty instead. This is the power of your mind at work!

So how did I change it? How can you?

Here are a few things I do. I used to hate water too, but here’s how I got around it. Now I can drink it plain with no issues, but I still like to use these.

Mixers: flat water or sparkling (watch those ingredients)

Mix-Ins:

✅ Lemon wedges
✅ Lime Wedges
✅ Orange Slices
✅ Strawberry Slices
✅ Kiwi Slices
✅ Cucumber Slices
✅ Frozen Grapes
✅ Watermelon Cubes
✅ Splash of Fruit Juice: cranberry, orange, grapefruit

Herbs:

✅ Mint Leaves
✅ Basil
✅ Grated Ginger
✅ Rosemary

Extras:

✅ Crushed Ice
✅ Ice Cubes

I hope this helps!

I also have many flavor combos I can share if you want, but mint leaves + oranges slices (1 or 2 crushed) is my absolute favorite flavor! It’s super refreshing! Give it try.
